The mission of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is to develop warm-hearted professionals specializing in medicines, excelling in terms of their human qualities and professional expertise, who are capable of active involvement in initiatives to ensure people’s wellbeing at the forefront of healthcare alongside physicians, nurses, and other health professionals. The Faculty emphasizes the development of communication skills, including foreign languages, and ethics through liberal arts courses, and the development of fundamental academic skills for sciences, the scientific outlook, and problem-solving skills in specialized courses in the pharmaceutical sciences. The Faculty aims to enrich the framework for promoting collaborative research with the Faculty of Medicine and the pharmacy departments of hospitals affiliated with Toho University, and to develop and apply innovative educational methods for developing outstanding pharmacists. The Faculty is also endeavoring to secure external financial resources to enable the academic research on which the fulfillment of its mission depends. Through strengthening its clinical education, the Faculty strives to educate pharmacy students who also possess a high degree of clinical expertise. For this purpose, it is vital to deepen students’ understanding of clinical practice. Taking full advantage of the university’s Faculty of Medicine and affiliated hospitals, we are enriching clinical education through practicums in hospital pharmacies and community pharmacies. We are also promoting international exchanges of students and faculty with universities overseas with which we have academic exchange agreements. As part of our efforts to contribute to communities and society at large, we offer open lectures on various topics and career-long education for pharmacists.
